Details remained murky as of late Tuesday though the individual reportedly was confronted by the Mashauntucket Pequot Tribal Police around 11:30 am Tuesday morning inside the fourth floor of the Fox Tower hotel garage.

The Connecticut State Police issued the following statement late Tuesday:

“Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Police ordered the suspect to drop his weapon, however he did not comply. At least one Mashantucket Tribal Police Officer discharged at least one round from their duty weapon at the suspect.”

The supect fell four floors, landing on the pavement below.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.

An autopsy was scheduled to reveal whether the shot fired by the officer or the fall from the parking garage caused the man’s death.  It was not immediately known if the shot fired by police actually hit the casino patron.
