Jacob Skov Olesen's odds to win the Open Championship are +700 in the "Top Dane" market. And those are long odds for the specific nation he represents. His payout for winning The Open Championship outright? $50,000 for every $100 bet. That is if you got in on him ahead of Thursday. Those updated odds are now 100-1. He still pays out $10,000 for every $100 bet ahead of Friday should he go on to win.
Olesen sat atop the leaderboard at the conclusion of Thursday's play.
Olesen, the British Amateur champion last year from Denmark, was the first player to get to 5 under until a bogey at the last. He was joined at 67 by Li Haotong of China, and then Fitzpatrick joined the group with his marvelous chip-in.
GolfWeek had this to offer about the 26-year-old many Gambling911.com readers might not be familiar with:
If Olesen wasn’t on your bingo card at the start of the week, here’s a little more about him. A left-handed player, he went to college in the United States and had stops at Ranger (Texas) Community College and TCU. He played his final season at Arkansas, earning All-America honors and statistically producing the best season in Razorback history. Asked why he didn't turn pro until age 24, he said, "I just wasn't good enough. I was never in college thinking I'm going to quit college and go pro now because I wasn't at the level that was required."
