Joe Biden Drops Out of Race

BetOnline puled its U.S. election odds in light of Joe Biden dropping out Sunday.

The decision comes after escalating pressure from Biden’s Democratic allies to step aside following the June 27 debate, in which the 81-year-old president trailed off, often gave nonsensical answers and failed to call out the former president’s many falsehoods.

Biden plans to serve out the remainder of his term in office, which ends at noon ET on Jan. 20, 2025.

“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” Biden wrote in a letter posted to his X account.

Why We're Loving Astros This Week

  • Houston is 7-1 against the Athletics.
  • Astros are 19-6 in last 25 as of Sunday morning.
  • Something's got to give: JP Sears is slated to start for the Athletics and is looking for his fourth straight win, which should keep the price down.
  • The Athletics are just 8-for-34 against Hunter Brown (.194).

Manchin the Latest to Say Biden Must Go

Sen. Joe Manchin (I-W.Va.) became the fourth sitting senator to call on President Biden to leave the presidential race on Sunday, urging the president to be a “uniter” and “pass the torch” to another Democratic candidate.

“I came to the decision with a heavy heart that I think it’s time to pass the torch to a new generation,” Manchin told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” on Sunday.

“I want him to be the president in the last five months of this presidency of his term, to do what he can do is unite our country, to calm down the rhetoric and be able to focus attention to peace in the world,” Manchin said. “Campaigning, I’ve been to statewide campaigns many times, it’s an unbelievable challenge to anybody, to anybody physically, mentally, every way, shape and form. And right now, the country and the world needs our President Joe Biden, but the compassion he’s always had and the ability to bring people together to use all of his forces and energy towards that.”

Biden's odds have been in constant flux at BetOnline in recent weeks but we've been in uncharted the last few days with more calls for the U.S. president to exit the race.

Biden's odds to be re-elected were sitting at +750 after crashing as long as +1400 late last week.  This price was still longer than Vice President Kamala Harris at +325.  Former president and GOP nominee Donald Trump has failed to move above the -300 mark, now losing some ground at +240.

Jake Paul Takes Down Mike Perry in 6th Round

(Associated Press) - YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul stopped former UFC fighter Mike Perry at 1:12 of the sixth round of a cruiserweight fight on Sunday to improve his record to 10-1 with seven knockouts.

Perry, who has a 6-1 record in bare-knuckle fighting, was making his professional boxing debut.

Paul knocked Perry down in each of the first two rounds and nearly stopped him with a flurry of punches in the fourth round. He sent Perry to the canvas a third time in the sixth round with an overhand right and left hook. Perry got back to his feet before the 10 count, but he was not steady on his feet and the referee waved the fight off.

“I truly believed I would put him out in the first round, but man he is tough,” Paul said. “I’m a perfectionist, but I wasn’t perfect because he hit me like five times, so I’m going to have to go to the drawing board, so I don’t get hit at all. Respect to Mike Perry. He was the king of violence, I’m the new king of violence.”
