Reno Casino Robbery Suspect Captured

58-year-old Reno resident Robert Kindell was arrested on April 25, 2026 in connection with a wave of armed robberies and attempted robberies at Reno casinos as well as Walmarts, according to KTVN Channel 2 News and AOL. He was apprehended following an investigation into incidents spanning March and April involving over $10,000 in losses. The Reno Police Department’s Regional Crime Suppression Unit conducted the investigation. He is accused of most recently robbing the Tamarack Casino (April 19) in broad daylight, robbing the Atlantis (April 1), and two Walmart locations (March 4, April 4).

The Puma Scratched

The Puma was scratched from the 2026 Kentucky Derby on the morning of the race (Saturday, May 2) due to a leg infection, making him the fifth horse to scratch from the 152nd running. He had the shortest odds of those scratched thus far at 8-1. Trainer Gustavo Delgado Jr. reported swelling in the horse's leg, leaving the field with 19 horses.

Traders Split on Winner of OpenAI Case

Elon Musk on Thursday sparred with an attorney for OpenAI during his third day of testimony in the contentious trial over the company’s pivot from nonprofit status to a for-profit venture valued at hundreds of billions of dollars. The trial centers on the 2015 birth of the ChatGPT maker as a nonprofit startup primarily funded by Musk. It pits the world’s richest person against Sam Altman, a fellow OpenAI co-founder he accuses of betraying promises to keep the company as a nonprofit dedicated to humanity’s benefit. Traders at Kalshi are split as to who will win this case. In January, Musk opened with around a 61% chance of winning. Altman has mostly moved slightly above the 50% chance of winning mark during the period February vs. April. With the trial having started, Musk now sat just over the 50% chance mark. Just shy of $600,000 had been traded on this market thus far.

86% of Traders at Polymarket See Spirit Collapse By Month's End

Spirit Airlines was in serious trouble with reports the airline could go under ahead of Saturday morning. 86% of those trading at Polymarket believed this would happen as of the 10 pm EDT hour. Volume increased to $42,146 Vol. from $25,000 just three hours prior when the chances were closer to 750%. U.S. President Donald Trump said late Friday that a deal is still possible to save the airline, however, not all bond holders are on board with a previous deal the White House presented. The president did not provide details related to any revised deal but said an announcement could come later Friday or Saturday. The possibility of a bailout first emerged publicly last week, when Trump floated the idea of the U.S. government offering Spirit a financial lifeline to help keep the airline from going bust and out of business. Separately, a lawyer for the airline told a U.S. Bankruptcy Court that Spirit was in advanced talks with the government over financing that could allow it to exit Chapter 11 protection. The president suggested the government would be able to resell the airline
