Gov. Jared Polis Signs Law Imposing New Limits on Sports Betting in Colorado

Colorado Senate Bill 131 — sponsored by Sens. Matt Ball, D‑Denver, and Byron Pelton, R‑Sterling, along with Reps. Steven Woodrow, D‑Denver, and Dan Woog, R‑Erie — limits customers to six deposits within a 24‑hour period and bans the use of credit cards to fund betting accounts. It was signed by Gov. Jared Polis.

NCAA, Sorsby Attorneys Clash Over Gambling, Mental Health at Hearing

The fate of the Texas Tech Red Raiders' upcoming season now rests in the hands of a Lubbock County District Court following a two-hour hearing on Monday. Red Raiders quarterback Brendan Sorsby’s attorneys are hoping to restore his eligibility for the upcoming 2026 college football season via a temporary injunction. Judge Ken Curry will preside over the case and he is seeking more documentation ahead of a decision expected within the next few days. Sorsby’s attorneys would like an answer by June 15, as the important NFL supplemental draft deadline falls on June 22. Their argument is simple: Sorsby’s well-being has been ignored by the NCAA in this investigation as they frame his issues as mental health and addiction, which instead of punishing, the NCAA is supposed to support. Flutter-Owned Betfair in UK Court Over Accusations It Caused Gambler’s Death

Betfair is to appear in court this week to defend against a lawsuit brought by Annie Ashton. Ashton alleges that the company is responsible for the death of her husband, Luke Ashton, who committed suicide after gambling compulsively on the Flutter-owned platform. In the coroner’s ruling, it said that Betfair “did not intervene or interact with Luke, in any meaningful way, between 2019 and the date of Luke’s death (April 2021), when more efforts to intervene or interact should have been made.” (source: Casino Beats)

Judge Yet to Rule on Brendan Sorsby Injunction in Wake of NCAA Gambling Probe

A judge is set to decide today whether to grant Sorsby an injunction amidst a gambling investigation. That ruling was expected on Monday but, as of Tuesday morning, nothing decided as of yet. The senior was ruled permanently ineligible by the NCAA after allegedly gambling on games involving his team. Sorsby has filed a request for an injunction that would allow him to play college football while his lawsuit against the NCAA flows through the justice department. His earlier request for reinstatement was denied.
