Ken Paxton Now Favored Over James Talarico in Texas Senate Race

Ken Paxton ranged anywhere from a decent favorite to a slight underdog in the race until President Trump endorsed him last week. After that endorsement, Paxton moved to a massive -2500 favorite and last night's results were exactly that. The latest 2026 Midterm odds for the next Texas Senator to be elected have shifted, likely due to Paxton's easy victory.

NCAA Denies Texas Tech Quarterback Brendan Sorsby’s Request for 2026 Eligibility

The NCAA has denied Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby’s request for reinstatement this season, according to a Tuesday report from Pete Thamel of ESPN. Sorsby was previously ruled permanently ineligible by the NCAA following investigations of his gambling activity, which included him betting on Indiana football games while a member of the Hoosiers’ program in 2022. Texas Tech president Lawrence Schovanec sent a letter Tuesday sharing the school’s intention to appeal the NCAA’s decision, citing the classification of gambling addiction as a “clinically recognized behavioral disorder.”

The NBC Chicago investigative team has learned that an alleged mob-connected gambling operation relied on corrupt law enforcement officials to help them make millions of dollars from illegal wagers. Federal investigators say payouts were made at multiple restaurants owned by the accused ringleader, “Jimmy the Greek” Gerodemos. In newly revealed information, the NBC Chicago investigative team has learned that members of the gambling enterprise had at least three law enforcement officers on the take. The three law enforcement officers are not named in court records. Neither are their federal agencies or the local Illinois police department where they worked.

Laurel Maryland Man Sentenced for Stealing 4,800 DOJ Phones Blew Most of the Money on Gambling

A Laurel, Maryland man has been sentenced to 12 months and one day behind bars for stealing more than 4,800 phones while working as a government contractor. Javan King, 42, worked as an information technology contractor for the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice from 2021 to 2025. Prosecutors say King defrauded the U.S. government out of $1.3 million by requesting thousands of mobile devices the DOJ did not need. He used the stolen proceeds mostly to gamble at MGM casinos nationwide as well as betting on the FanDuel sportsbook site.
