Carmine Avellino is facing up to 33 months in prison.  The failure to accept a plea bargain earlier will result in an additional four months tacked on.  Lawyers for the defendant are looking for a reduced sentence as they claim their elderly client suffers from Parkinson’s disease.

Avellino has long been involved in gambling and waste management.  He initially – and perhaps fittingly - called the plea bargain offered to him “garbage”.
