Man Arrested for Fourth Time Running Illegal Internet Gambling Biz

Officers made one arrest and seized at least 13 computers at the sparse site on the first floor of 634 E. Main Street in Stockton, California Monday.

Suspect Erica Herechski taken into custody for a 4th Time

We received numerous complaints about this location. The owner of this establishment has been arrested four times,” an undercover vice officer advised the Record.

From the Record:

Typically patrons — who are often poor — purchase a $2 cash card from the establishment that allows them to put money on the card, usually $20 at a time. The patrons then connect via the computer to internet gambling sites that are illegal in California. Most of them play slot-type games that operate just like an electronic slot machine.

The woman arrested, Erica Herechski, either age 36 or 37, was previously charged with running illegal gambling businesses at 1107 E. Harding Way and at the former Payless Shoes on North Wilson Way.  While most of the charges were misdemeanors, Herechski has one felony drug bust.

Erica Herechski compared what she was doing to the Monopoly game played at McDonald's, saying that it was perfectly legal.
