MLB Major Announcement on Sports Betting Tue

David Payne Purdum of ESPN.com announced via Twitter Monday evening to expect a major announcement in regard to Major League Baseball and sports wagering.

Purdum tweeted:

Major League Baseball and Commissioner Rob Manfred will be making a "major sports gaming announcement" 3 p.m., Tuesday in New York City.

It was not immediately known what the announcement would entail.

This scheduled announcement does come at a time when two more states officially entered the legalized sports betting market in the U.S.  Pennsylvania opened a sportsbook outside of Harrisburg at the Hollywood Casino November 15 and Rhode Island debuted its sportsbook at the Twin Rivers Casino in Lincoln Monday (November 26).

The leagues have been pushing some states to impose a controversial integrity fee.
