Odds on the MLB Reliever of the Year Award for 2025
’m not sure there’s a more fickle position in all of sports than major league baseball reliever.
It’s what makes Mariano Rivera’s consistency in the regular season and postseason for so many years so special.
Last year’s best reliever (according to WAR) was Emmanuel Clase. He gave up 10 runs in 74 innings last regular season and then gave up eight runs in eight postseason innings.
The second-best reliever last year (according to WAR) was Kirby Yates at age 37. The previous three years he had seven saves. Last year he had 33.
I’m sure you get the point.
