Ohio Latest State to Challenge Kalshi, Massive Online Gambling Business Taken Down

Ohio has become the second state to engage outside counsel in litigation against Kalshi, the legal online prediction market that is regulated by the Commodity Exchange Act & Regulations (CFTC).  Scroll down for all the latest headlines from the world of gambling and sports as well as our top trending stories and searches.

They join Nevada.

Gaming attorney Daniel Wallach said of Nevada via his X page that state "turned its fortunes around when it retained Mayer Brown and SCOTUS litigator Nicole Saharsky.

"Smart move by Ohio. Still waiting on a hearing date for the PI motion."

Kalshi has been fighting off efforts by a handful of states, including the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, to prevent the gambling firm from operating on those jurisdictions.

On Wednesday, the US Court of Appeals reversed Maryland district court’s denial of preliminary injunctive relief against Kalshi

In that matter, Kalsh arguedi that, due to being CFTC-licensed, the Commodity Exchange Act preceeds state law.

That case comes after the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission (MLGCC) filed a cease-and-desist order against Kalshi.

(Crime) - Two Individuals with Ties to Malta and Cyprus Busted in Online Gambling Scheme - European authorities, coordinated by Eurojust, have identified a massive illegal online gambling ring with sales of nearly a billion euros ($1.17 billion). Two individuals have been charged with running several illicit online casino websites.

  • A cross-border investigation unveiled a network of companies involved in illegal games targeting mostly French citizens. Some of the site managers were based in Cyprus. The persistent difficulties in withdrawing money led to French authorities issuing repeated warnings about suspected money laundering.
  • “The illegal gambling site generated nearly EUR 1 billion in turnover over the past five years,” Eurojust said in the press release.
  • “Investigations revealed fund transfers totalling more than €100 million between 2022 and 2025.”
