The prediction market Kalshi is now forecasting the US government shutdown to last 20.5 days based on gambler sentiment.
60 percent of gamblers believe the shutdown will last 15 or more days while half believe it will last 20 or more days.
Lawmakers left Washington for the weekend appearing no closer to a deal to fund the federal government. Democrats are at an impasse with Republicans and President Donald Trump over enhanced Obamacare subsidies. With no votes expected over the weekend, the shutdown will drag into next week.
Firings loom: Agencies and activities deemed essential are still open, but many employees will be working without a paycheck, and the Trump administration has signaled thousands of government layoffs could begin soon.
This is currently one of the most sought out betting markets.

Connor McDavid News
On Friday, Daily Faceoff’s Matt Larkin dove into it all with 25 bold predictions for the upcoming season. Uncertain about his future but still believing the Edmonton Oilers can win a Stanley Cup soon, Connor McDavid re-signs…for three years. McDavid is worth $20 million annually but “settles” for something in the Kirill Kaprizov range, hoping that gives GM Stan Bowman enough cap space to put a championship-caliber team on the ice. We fire up the handwringing once more when McDavid arrives at his 2028-29 walk year as a 31-year-old. While there’s been rumours of McDavid signing a shorter deal, three years would be a surprise, suggests Dylan Nazareth of OilersNation. Especially since it would make us less than two years out from starting this whole process again. Still, to have arguably the best player in the world signed on a team-friendly deal is something no fan would turn down.

Atlanta Braves News
Braves’ 3 Best Manager Replacements for Brian Snitker - The Atlanta Braves face a pivotal moment in their franchise history as they search for a new manager after Brian Snitker stepped down following the 2025 season. ClutchPoints points to three of the stronger candidates. We also list their odds.
- Walt Weiss: The Continuity Candidate (4/1 odds) - The 60-year-old former shortstop brings both familiarity with the organization and previous managerial experience, making him the early frontrunner for the position.
- Ron Washington: The Proven Winner (NA) - Despite his recent departure from the Los Angeles Angels, the 73-year-old skipper remains one of baseball's most respected managers and represents a significant upgrade in terms of postseason success. Washington's resume speaks for itself. During his tenure as Texas Rangers manager from 2007-2014, he compiled a 664-611 record while leading the franchise to its first two World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011.
- Mark DeRosa: The Fresh Perspective (3/1 odds) - DeRosa offers a combination of Braves connections, modern baseball expertise, and fresh leadership that could energize the franchise. His experience as a member of the 2010 World Series champion San Francisco Giants provides championship-level insight that few candidates can match.
Braves Anthopoulos Insists No List of Manager Candidates Yet -While there was the possibility of Snitker calling it a career, the Atlanta Braves general manager continues to insist that there is no list of successors yet. "I will now turn my attention to the manager," Anthopoulos said to the Associated Press. "... We have not spoken with anybody." The process will not be rushed, but ideally, this will get done "sooner than later."(Latest Next Atlanta Braves Manager Odds)
