Armed robbery

Reno Police are searching for a man they say pulled off a brazen armed robbery at the Tamarack Casino in broad daylight Sunday.

Investigators say the man pulled out a hand gun and demanded money.  He got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police also say he fled out the back door of the casino and also sprayed a chemical into the air, possibly pepper spray.

Some patrons reported breathing difficulties after the substance was sprayed.

Investigators are tracking the suspect using video surveillance around the casino.   He is not in custody at this time.

The last known armed robbery to occur at this establishment was in 2017 when a masked suspect pulled a gun on an employee and took cash at the sportsbook.

A customer and security guard tackled the suspect, leading to a struggle. A shot was fired, but no one was hit by the bullet; though a bystander was injured in the scuffle.

The suspect ultimately escaped in a waiting vehicle driven by an accomplice

The casino is a favorite amongst locals with its 15,000 square feet of gaming floor and more than 500 of the hottest slot and video poker games.
