Sands Casino Fined Against For Allowing Underage Gamblers

BETHELEM, Pa. (Associated Press) - Sands Casino has been fined $150,000 because underage gamblers continue to sneak through security despite a series of high tech upgrades meant to prevent such a thing.

The Pennsylvania Gambling Control Board announced Wednesday that Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem was fined for 11 incidents where minors were caught drinking or gambling at the casino. The Morning Call reports the incidents involved people ages 16 to 20 and happened between September and March.

Sands Vice President Michael Magazzu says the casino's advanced ID-scanning system that they installed helped close the cracks, but not entirely. Magazzu says some of the minors were aided by family, and those entries are hard to prevent.
