Nevada Congresswoman Dina Titus made a major announcement Thursday afternoon in regard to her FAIR BET Act, which looks to remove a gambling tax that was part of The Big Beautiful Bill.

My FAIR BET Act has been sitting in @WaysMeansCmte for eight months, despite commitments from @HouseGOP
to restore the full gambling loss deduction.

I am now filing a discharge petition to bring it to the House floor for a vote.

Both high-stakes and hobby gamblers are struggling, and local economies like #OnlyInDistrictOne that depend on gaming revenue are hurting. We need 218 signatures to bring this commonsense fix to the floor. Call your representatives and tell them to sign on.

Under the new rule, taxpayers can only deduct 90% of their documented gambling losses in a year, compared to 100% deduction that had been allowed for decades.

"I’m still fighting for this fair tax policy. I submitted another amendment to the funding bill this week to restore the gambling loss tax deduction to 100%," Titus tweeted out late Monday.

"Republican leadership, however, refused to make my amendment in order and hold a vote on this commonsense fix."

Gamblers are not impacted with their 2025 filings this year but the law must be changed prior to December 31 or else the 90% rule will go into effect for next year's filings.
