Scheffler never gave anyone a chance from the time his 9-iron settled a foot away for birdie on the first hole until he tapped in for a 3-under 68 and a four-shot victory over Harris English.

Scheffler was the favorite but enough action was coming in on other contenders to offset his big win. While a number of bets were placed on Scheffler, he did not list among the top five liabilities at most sportsbooks. This was his first Open Championship victory.
