Fire Chief Accused of Threatening to Kill Asian American in Casino

(March 29, 2021 - 10:09 pm) - A fire captain allegedly hurled racial insults and threatened to kill a Vietnamese American man at Arkansas’ Oaklawn Casino that occurred March 13.

Bentonville, Ark. Fire Captain Benjamin Snodgrass has been arrested.

"I’m going to kill you and kill your kind of people,” Snodgrass reportedly told Liem Nguyen.  “Your kind of people is not supposed to be here."

Both men were injured during a struggle.

When police arrived, Snodgrass appeared to be intoxicated.

“I don’t know, man, they are pumping gasses into this place, and something is not right,” Snodgrass was recorded saying via police bodycam.  “I don’t know guys, I’m hammered.”

The 44-year-old Snodgrass, who served 13 years with the Bentonville Fire Department has since resigned. He is due back in court in May.

 

Instagram Influencer Accused of Defrauding Followers Out of $2.5 Million in Bitcoin Scheme

Jegara Igbara (AKA "Jay Mazini") gained more than 1 million followers under his Instagram account.  He is accused of defrauded his followers out of at least $2.5 million from his followers through a Bitcoin scheme.

The FBI accused Igbara of coaxing people to send him Bitcoin at above-market prices, then sending them back falsified images of cash wire transfers.

“As we allege, Igbara’s social media persona served as a backdrop for enticing victims to sell him their Bitcoin at attractive, but inflated, values," FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge William Sweeney said in a statement Thursday. "A behind-the-scenes look, however, revealed things aren’t always as they seem. There was nothing philanthropic about the Bitcoin transactions Igbara engaged in with his victims."

Michigan Man to be Arraigned on Murder Charge After Shooting at Casino

(March 24, 2021 - 9:55 pm) - A Detroit man is awaiting formal charges of first-degree murder and felony firearm after he allegedly shot and killed another man Sunday morning in the parking garage of the Motor City Casino.

Nicolas White, 27, is expected to be formally arraigned Wednesday for his alleged role in the death of 25-year-old Kermit McCants of Clinton Township.

White may have been trying to intervene as McCants and his girlfriend were engaged in verbal argument.

McCants was shot multiple times was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries.

White fled the scene and was later arrested.
