WarHorse Starts Work on South Sioux City Casino Resort

WarHorse Gaming has officially started construction on a new casino and hospitality development in South Sioux City, marking the company’s third gaming property in Nebraska. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on August 27 at a site adjacent to the Atokad Downs racetrack. The project carries a reported value of $100 million. WarHorse Gaming operates as a subsidiary of Ho-Chunk Inc. The property is slated to encompass approximately 600 slot machines, 16 table games, live and simulcast horse racing, and a 100-room hotel. Plans also call for an outdoor pool area, a sportsbook section featuring sports betting kiosks, convention facilities, and multiple entertainment offerings. Lance Morgan, president and chief executive officer of Ho-Chunk, described the project as a long-term objective for the company. “South Sioux City has been part of the vision for WarHorse from the beginning, and we’re excited to get started. We’ve seen the excitement WarHorse has generated in Lincoln and Omaha, not to mention the economic impact. This is a significant investment, and we’re building a destination we believe will make a real impact on the region,” he told local media this week.

Ohio vs. Nevada will be played at 3:30 pm EDT with Nevada the -125 favorite and Ohio being offered with a line of -105. Nevada handed Ohio its only loss of the tournament, and it was a wild one. Ohio led 5-2 in the fourth inning, but Nevada came back and won 6-5 on Hudson Cowley's two-out walk-off single. Ohio has responded by winning five consecutive elimination games. Even more impressive: during that run, Hamilton has outscored its opponents 39-6. Boone Treadway may be the most important player in the game. He's Ohio's shortstop and one of its top pitchers, who is slated to start today. He has 13 strikeouts on the mound, but his plate discipline has been extraordinary: Treadway has drawn a LLWS-record 11 walks. Nevada's strength is its well rounded hitting across the board. Paseo Verde is batting a U.S.-best .351 with a .440 on-base percentage, and nine players are hitting at least .333. Nevada has accumulated 23 hits over its last two victories. Hudson Cowley deserves attention here. He delivered the walk-off hit that beat Ohio in their first meeting and can also pitch.

North Carolina vs. TCU is probably considered the most intriguing and competitive game of the weekend, in the oddsmakers eyes at least. TCU is coming off a strong 2025 and has considerably more proven offensive production. Jeremy Payne is a major player to watch after rushing for 623 yards at 5.7 per carry while adding 207 receiving yards last season. Jordan Dwyer gives TCU an established receiving threat after 54 catches for 730 yards and seven TDs. The question is whether UNC can make a significant jump in Year 2 under Bill Belichick. TCU is laying more than a touchdown, so UNC doesn't necessarily need to win to make this interesting.
