First Woman to Win UK Poker Tour in 20 Year History

A poker player has become the first woman to win a major event on a UK tour. Renee Xie, from Northamptonshire, won the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) Luton Main Event on 6 September, beating 396 other entrants. The GUKPT is a poker series which hosts events across the UK and Xie is the first woman to win one of its main events in its 20-year history. She told Annabel Amos on BBC Radio Northampton: "I couldn't believe I won. I was at a loss for words." Women make up 4% of the global poker player pool.

The statewide total was a decrease of $121,333, or 0.1%, compared to September 2025. Casino gaming contributions to the state during September 2026 totaled $65,033,471, an increase of 1.8% compared to September 2025. The September 2026 contributions included $47,639,745 to the Education Trust Fund. Casino proceeds from September 2026 also delivered $8.1 million to the communities and jurisdictions where the casinos are located; $7.6 million to Maryland’s horse racing industry; and $1.6 million to support small, minority- and women-owned businesses.

Class Action Lawsuit Alleges Boston-Based DraftKings Used AI to Target Vulnerable Gamblers

A proposed class action lawsuit alleges Boston-based sports gambling company DraftKings is using artificial intelligence to identify and target vulnerable gamblers with promotions, incentives, and advertisements. Plaintiff Daniel Vest, of West Virginia, says he has spent thousands of dollars with DraftKings, which led the company to inundate him with promotions. Vest claims he received at least 70 emails, texts, or notifications from DraftKings in the month leading up to Sept. 25, per the suit.The lawsuit was filed Sept. 30 in the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts.

Ohio Orders 10 Prediction Markets to Stop Offering Sports Contracts

Ohio's casino regulator has ordered 10 prediction markets and brokers, including Polymarket, Robinhood and Coinbase, to stop offering sports event contracts in the state. The cease-and-desist letters follow a Sept. 25 federal appeals ruling that federal commodities law does not preempt Ohio's sports gaming law, and they give the companies until Oct. 16 to confirm compliance.

Pennsylvania State Police to Begin Skill Game Seizures Oct. 14

Pennsylvania State Police will start seizing unlicensed skill game machines and may file criminal charges against businesses that keep them after Oct. 14. Police say the devices, ruled slot machines by the state Supreme Court in June, must be removed along with ticket redemption terminals, and that switching them off or unplugging them does not satisfy the law.
