Flutter Chief Steps Down

Wednesday August 5, 2026 (12:24 pm EDT)

Flutter’s long-serving chief executive Peter Jackson is stepping down and will be replaced by the head of its international business, as the gambling group warned increased investment in the US would reduce near-term profits. The New York-listed group said on Wednesday that Dan Taylor would succeed Jackson, who has been the company’s chief executive since 2018, in October. The management shake-up came as Flutter said it would spend more on bonuses, promotions and loyalty schemes in the US as its sportsbook FanDuel faces mounting competition from prediction markets such as Polymarket and Kalshi.  (source: Financial Times)

Kalshi is Subject to Utah’s Anti-Gambling Law, Judge Rules

Tuesday August 4, 2026 (8:33 pm EDT)

The prediction market Kalshi suffered another state loss Tuesday after a federal judge ruled that Utah may enforce its anti-gambling laws, even if they include bans of proposition betting. U.S. District Judge Robert Shelby issued the following ruling: “State regulation of its gambling laws does not prevent the CFTC from serving the public interest in regulating derivates markets, preventing price manipulation, ensuring financial integrity, protecting market participants, and promoting innovations,” the judge wrote in the order. “Kalshi has not met its burden of showing otherwise.”  Kalshi says it will appeal.
