Two Dolly Parton Songs Enter Billboard Charts After Prediction Market Offering
Wednesday September 2, 2026 (9:29 am EDT)
Dolly Parton’s original recording of “Jolene” reenters the Sept. 5-dated Billboard Hot 100 at a new peak of No. 16 following the country legend’s death on Aug. 25 at age 80. And “Jolene” isn’t alone. Parton’s original 1974 recording of “I Will Always Love You” makes its Hot 100 debut at No. 27, meaning that one of the most famous songs she ever wrote had never appeared on the chart in its original form until now. Prediction markets had begun offering trading on whether one or more of Parton's songs would crack the top ten immediately following her death.

Wednesday September 2, 2026 (9:18 am EDT)
Calling Kalshi’s request to move its case from state court to federal court “inappropriate,” Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman late Monday wrote that “a preemption defense cannot support removal.” The brief seeks to prohibit Kalshi from operating within Kentucky’s borders.
A reminder that the States are undefeated on motions to remand vs. Kalshi, having secured remands (followed by state-court issued preliminary injunctions and/or TROs against Kalshi) in MA, MI, NV & WA. Pending motions remain in CT, KY, NY & WI. https://t.co/fkRHafZA0e

Pete Hegseth Pays Out $15,000 on a $100 Bet for 2028 U.S. Election Odds
Wednesday September 2, 2026 (9:18 am EDT)
President Donald Trump brushed off questions Monday regarding a potential 2028 presidential bid by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, calling it "very early to talk about that." Vegas doesn't think Hegseth has an inkling of a chance to pull off an upset and become POTUS in 2028. Hegseth is last on the list. His 150/1 odds equate to exactly a 0.7% implied probability of victory.
