NHS Northern Gambling Service Psychologist Fails to Disclose His Wife's Role in Gambling Charity
Matt Gaskell, a consulting psychologist for NHS Northern Gambling Service, is accused of not providing details over his wife's employment with the gambling charity Gambling With Lives, seen as a very clear conflict of interest.
The EGR report notes that a complaint has been filed by Jordan Lee, CEO of gambling-related harms awareness and education charity. The complaint alleges that Gaskell has shown favorable treatment to his wife's charity and "actively abused and spread falsehoods about the RET (research, education and treatment) sector."
In July of last year, Gaskell was tasked with providing evidence in a parliamentary select committee regarding gambling regulation. Individuals representing Gambling With Lives were also present. The whole while, Gaskell had yet to disclose his wife's ties to Gambling With Lives.
Gaskell also failed to notify of his appearance on YouTube videos for Gambling With Lives.
An industry source tells Gambling911.com: "This guy has been on a crusade to control this RET platform which controls who gets government funding to charities or responsible gaming groups in the UK. Well this guy wanted to basically block or ban companies that accept donations from gambling companies stating it is a conflict of interest. Meanwhile his wife is on one of these other groups that was likely looking to actively benefit from it.
"(His) Wife used her maiden name in working for the other RG group."

Garrett Nussmeier Passing Yards Prop Bet vs. USC September 1
Garrett Nussmeier was rewarded the starting quarterback job for the 2024 season.
And he'll be tested early against a ranked USC squad.
"Having a quarterback that has been in the system for the last couple of years. that knows what it looks like, what its like to be in an SEC battle, and has played in a game against a pretty darn good defense, those things make you feel a little bit more at ease going into these games," LSU head coach Brian Kelly told reporters Monday during his weekly press conference.
Demand for Garrett Nussmeier passing yards prop bets versus USC were heavy throughout Sunday, according to Gambling911.com internal data.
His total Over/Under was set at 285.5.
Miller Moss Passing Yards Prop Bet vs. LSU September 1
Miller Moss led the Trojans to a 42–28 win and was named offensive MVP after throwing a Holiday Bowl–record six touchdowns to conclude last season. He returns Sunday to face off against LSU.
"He's certainly ahead right now, there's no question about that," USC head coach Lincoln Riley declared upon naming Moss his team's starter. "We're in a position right now where we don't have to name a starter. ... If we played today, it would certainly be Miller."
And his teammates are thrilled to have Miller starting.
Receiver Jay Fair said: "Miller has been a great leader so far. When I first got here, Miller sent out a text to all of the guys, and we all got together. We threw, and we hung out together. That was my first time meeting everybody. When it happened, I was pretty excited, and I had a great feeling about this year.
"He's made sure [the newer guys are] adjusting well and making sure we know what's coming up as far as plays and the offensive install. He's done a great "
Miller's passing yards total for Sunday night game came in at 288.5 Over/Under.
