Mazi Smith "The Sports Betting King"

The so-called "Sports Betting King", Mazi Smith (real name Darnell Smith) was certainly generating plenty of buzz around here at Gambling911.com.  The impressions (number of folks searching the net) were not entirely mind-blowing considering the big writeup on this character last weekend by the New York Times.  Those searching have mostly been landing here at G911, however.  Conversions for these searches were greater than 37% whereas 5% to 10% is typically the norm.

Smith had bosted of his high-stakes winnings that include wins like $1.45 M on the Chiefs and $548 K in another instance. He claims to have made dramatic profits such as $317 K in a single day. We soon learned that Mazi was in police custody since May 16. That just happens to be the day Mazi stopped posting on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The New York Times confirmed these reports

According to the Times, the court documents indicate that Smith stands accused of possessing 14 different IDs.  They get more specific in regard to the alleged ID thefts

One was a Utah identification card with the name Carson Marimon; 11 were from Arizona; one was a Romanian passport with the name Stanescu Ana-Maria. And the final ID? A Nevada driver’s license with the name Goated Mazi.

Times reporter Devin Gordon confirmed Smith entered a plea of not guilty on all 14 counts, noting that an investigator in the district attorney’s office advised Smith was not granted bail because he remained on probation from an earlier gun-possession charge.

His criminal trial is scheduled for Aug. 25, and if convicted, he faces years in prison.

Smith told Gordon he was on “business out of town.”

The Coldplay Kiss Cam

This story was all the rage last week with Astronomer's CEO caught on cam at a Coldplay concert with his female HR manager embracing.  Both knew they were caught and acted guilty as sin.

Astronomer CEO Andy Byron resigned over the weekend but this may not be the last we are hearing about HR chief Kristin Cabot, who appears to be married into a very wealthy "old money" family.

Property records obtained by The Post show that the 52-year-old Cabot, whose maiden name is Stanek, has shared a Rye, New Hampshire address with Andrew Cabot — the chief executive of Privateer Rum, a Massachusetts-based booze maker — since at least 2023.

Privateer Rum’s website lists Andrew Cabot as its CEO and COO of the company. His bio says his “ancestor, the original Andrew Cabot (1750-1791), was a merchant, rum distiller and successful American privateer during the American Revolution.”

Betting markets pertaining to Coldplay, Byron and Cabot began popping up in recent days.  Polymarket features a divorce parlay.

This story as it relates to the gambling markets hasn't gained a whole lot of traction here at Gambling911.com yet.  Outside of the Epstein Files controversy, this one was the talk of the Internet over the past week nonetheless.
