The $1.5M lawsuit seeks damages for a lost business opportunity.
Samuel Richardson of Hartford, Conn. and a frequent slot player at the casino claims in a lawsuit filed Tuesday that the actions of the MGM Springfield staff amounted to harassment, defamation, negligence, and a violation of his rights, causing him emotional distress
The complaint contends that a female security guard attempted to look inside the back of Richardson's van where he sat on beach chairs with a "good family friend", smoking and chatting.
Upon trying to re-enter the casino, Richardson found out he had been barred from doing so.
“Samuel feels he was unjustly harassed, denied entry, and subjected to false claims,” reads the lawsuit. “He missed a critical meeting with an important investor at 5 a.m. due to the harassment, which potentially cost his company a business deal worth $1.2 million. As a veteran who fought for this country, Samuel will not tolerate being treated differently or with disrespect.”
The guard alleged he was having sex in his van, something the plaintiff describes as “a complete lie and unfounded” in the suit.
