Top Trending: ‘Operation Kings Fall’ Yearlong Investigation Into Gambling, Drug Trafficking, Violence Nets 22 Arrests
A total of 22 suspects face a combined 67 charges in a large investigation into drugs and violence dubbed "Operation Kings Fall." Scroll down for all the latest gambling headlines from around the globe and the top trending gambling articles at Gambling911.com.
The investigation primarily focused on Super Saver Food Store, formerly known as Kings, in Brooksville, Florida, a city north of Tampa.
Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis says the suspects were involved in drug trafficking, illegal gambling, weapons possession, and a "tremendous amount of violence."
Deputies had pulled over Super Saver Food Store's owner, Mohamad Hasan, saying he was found to be making payments for illegal gambling – which led to fights, shootings, and drug deals.
That violence included shootings at Super Saver on Feb. 17 and July 17, 2025, along with an armed robbery on July 23.
Over the course of the investigation, Nienhaus said detectives seized more than $100,000 worth of cocaine, $5,000 worth of fentanyl, Xanax, nine guns, and $8,300 in cash.
"When these shots are fired and this violence occurs, innocent people who live in that area who have been begging us for years to do something about this," Nienhuis said. "But ultimately, they're not always willing to help us because of the violence and the fear of reprisals and things like that so it was very difficult to infiltrate these types of organizations but we do it to make a level playing field for the businesses in that area."

Mykell Robinson, Steven Vasquez and Jalen Weaver were deemed permanently ineligible by the NCAA. All three players were released from their teams and no longer enrolled at their schools following the investigation. In its ruling, the NCAA determined "the student-athletes bet on their own games, one another's games and/or provided information that enabled others to do so during the 2024-25 regular season." The NCAA found evidence that two of those players manipulated their own performances to ensure certain bets were won.

- Officials Put a Stop to Phoenix Dream Home Sweepstakes - Officials Put a Stop to Phoenix Dream Home Sweepstakes - State gaming officials are putting an end to an online Phoenix home raffle, saying it’s an illegal gambling scheme. The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) announced on Tuesday that it has issued a cease-and-desist order to a UK-based company called Raffall and a Valley man who are running the sweepstakes. John Smith said he is raffling off a $1.3 million mountainside home in north Phoenix with tickets starting at $10. If the minimum number of ticket sales is reached, the home would be awarded. If not, the winner gets 50% of the cash from the ticket sales. However, raffles can only be put on by charitable, tax-exempt organizations and personal profit is banned, officials said. The way this home sweepstakes is set up, Smith and Raffall look to profit from the other half of the ticket sales, so it’s an illegal gambling operation, the ADG said.
