College Football Odds: Heisman Trophy Favorites

Granted, there is little in the way of any value when it comes to betting on this year's Heisman Trophy winner (that would be Indiana Hoosiers Fernando Mendoza based on the oddsmakers assessment, and pretty much everybody else for that matter).

Mendoza comes in as the massive -3000 favorite after sitting around -115 ahead of the Hoosiers big win versus Ohio State.

Monday's traffic at Gambling911.com was mostly all about Mendoza.

Going into Sunday, Fernando Mendoza was a slight favorite over Julian Sayin. The conference upset victory easily propelled Mendoza past his counterpart in terms of Heisman projections, and likely vaulted the Hoosiers to the top seed in the country.

Kalshi to Implement Delay

Kalshi has reportedly submitted documentation to regulators proposing its own order delays. The proposal, currently under a ten-business-day review by the CFTC, does not specify which customers would be subject to these delays. It could take effect as early as this week if the regulator approves it. Kalshi declined to comment.

This was our top read story Tuesday morning as pro sports bettors in particular worry about the end of courtsiding opportunities.

Courtsiding is a form of in-play (live) betting advantage where a person inside a sports venue relays real-time information faster than what sportsbooks or TV broadcasts receive it, thus assisting with live in-play betting features that prediction markets like Kalshi, as well as traditional sports books, employ.

No Sports Betting in Texas

Just a few hits below the Kalshi headline, news that Texas gambling lobbying efforts are set to taper off drew a wide audience to the site.

In a new interview with CBS 11 News, Abbott said he is “not there yet” on casino legalization, citing concerns over addiction and recent sports-betting scandals involving athletes.

“There have been more red flags raised that cause us to have to pause,” said Abbott, adding that Texas shouldn’t approve anything that would harm the state’s culture or “sporting events that we have in the state.”

Abbott had previously suggested he was open to discussions on the matter.
