U.S. President Donald Trump spent his first Saturday in office strolling the casino floor at Circa Las Vegas.

Trump could be seen touring the property with Circa Casino co-owner Derek Stevens, even stopping at the craps table.

For Stevens, the visit by Trump was more than just a photo op and chance to get Circa in all the headlines.

“His message that he’s going to share is no tax on tips, and that is a universally positive message that everyone on both sides will be excited about," Stevens said Saturday.

Trump took the stage before cheering supporters at the Circa Resort and Casino in front of a large banner reading "No Tax on Tips" and said economic confidence was soaring in the United States.

Trump proposed ending taxation of income from tips and overtime back in June as he courted service workers in the presidential swing state of Nevada. The tip-heavy hospitality industry comprises more than a fifth of jobs.

"Can you remember that little statement about tips?" Trump said during one of several inauguration day speeches on Monday. "Anybody remember that little statement? I think we won Nevada because of that statement."

Stevens only learned of the president's planned visit on Wednesday.

“From my perspective, there’s a lot going through my mind when this happens,” Stevens said in a phone chat Friday. “The first thing is, when someone from the team of the president calls, you answer the phone.”

Sigal Chattah, the national committeewoman for Nevada’s Republican National Committee, arranged the visit.

Chattah then put Stevens in touch with Nevada GOP Chairman Michael McDonald to discuss the hotel’s availability and relayed the information to Trump’s advance team.

Trump would be speaking at a venue inside the Circa but Stevens declined to offer any details out of security concerns.

“Well, there’s a lot happening,” Stevens said. “This is one hell of a week. I mean, this may go down as one of the most significant political weeks in our country’s history, and a great moment for downtown.”
