Unibet, a sportsbook based in Malta that operated outlets in several U.S. states and a Canadian province, announced late last year that it would be pulling out of the U.S. and Canada in 2024 to concentrate on the European market.

Unibet operated in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Arizona, New Jersey and Indiana, and in Ontario in Canada.

In Pennsylvania, Unibet ran sportsbooks at the Downs at Mohegan Sun at Lehigh Valley, an off track betting parlor in Allentown, and at the Mohegan Pennsylvania Casino and Racetrack in Wilkes-Barre.

June 21 will be the final day for Unibet in Pennsylvania, it was previously announced.

In an exclusive interview Friday with Gambling 911, Mohegan Pennsylvania president and general manager Tony Carlucci revealed that Unibet will be replaced at Mohegan’s two Pennsylvania locations by a newly-created, in-house sportsbook to be called Mohegan Pennsylvania Sportsbook.

“The rebrand to Mohegan Pennsylvania Sportsbook inside Mohegan Pennsylvania will begin in late June following the NBA Finals,” Carlucci said.

“Signage and other information will become available inside the sportsbook for our guests next month as well.

“The aim is to have a very seamless transition, though there is the possibility of minimal downtime for wagering when this transition begins.

“When the transition occurs in late June, all uncashed Unibet tickets will be honored up to one year from the settle date on a wager ticket.”

Unibet earlier this week stopped accepting online wagers in Pennsylvania.

It had previously stopped accepting online wagers in Virginia, New Jersey, Indiana and Ontario.

It is still accepting online wagers in Arizona.

At the Unibet location in Allentown, employees said they have not been told anything about the transition to new branding or the timetable for it.

“We’ve been kept in the dark all along,” one ticket writer there said.
