Heavy Action on WNBA Dildo Betting….But Climax Likely Already Reached
It was fun while it lasted. Gamblers went all-in on betting the color of the next dildo thrown onto the court of a WNBA game. But with at least one arrest made, the odds are good fans will be more restrained moving forward.
BetOnline released the Rubber Romeo wagering options on Thursday with heavy action being reported as the story continued to make headlines.
Immediately following odds being posted, another green dildo was thrown onto the court of a game between the Valkyries and Chicago Sky Friday night.
Interest in the WNBA dildo wagering opportunity appeared to have climaxed on Saturday with some 9583 impressions recorded by Gambling911.com, up from 5384 the day prior.
"We could see Sunday's numbers even higher with news of the arrest," noted Payton O'Brien, Senior Editor of the Gambling911.com website. "Interest is likely to be waning unless we see another sex toy thrown onto the court, which would be pretty asinine at this point."
"The safety and well-being of everyone in our arenas is a top priority for our league. Objects of any kind thrown onto the court or in the seating area can pose a safety risk for players, game officials, and fans," the league said in a statement. "In line with WNBA Arena Security Standards, any fan who intentionally throws an object onto the court will be immediately ejected and face a minimum one-year ban in addition to being subject to arrest and prosecution by local authorities."
Sky center Elizabeth Williams said after Friday's game: "It's super disrespectful. I don't really get the point of it. It's really immature. Whoever is doing it needs to grow up."
Sophie Cunningham blasted WNBA fans for the behavior.
“Stop throwing dildos on the court,” Cunningham posted on X. “You’re going to hurt one of us.”
By Saturday evening, we were learning of an arrest tied to Tuesday's incident. League officials have not said whether they identified the person responsible for the second sex toy incident. The individual accused of throwing the item in Georgia faces a one-year ban by the league. The individual's name has not yet been released.
WNBA arenas have security procedures, with many having either a no-bag policy or some allowing clear bags, often limited in size. Every bag is subject to search upon arena entry.
BetOnline released a number of prop bets tied to the WNBA dildo throwing story that remained available for betting.
