The wait is finally over as Hard Rock Bet has opened to all residents and visitors of Florida.

The website, operated by the Seminoles, will function as a monopoly for the time being.

New players who sign-up, deposit, and place their first cash bet of at least $10 with Hard Rock Bet are eligible to receive their money back as a Bonus Bet, equal to the amount of the bet up to $100, if their first ever cash bet loses. Only the first placed cash bet will qualify for this promotion.

The Seminoles efforts to operate in Florida have come under opposition from the West Flagler Group who operate Miami's Magic Casino.  They oppose a compact between the Seminoles and Florida.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday granted West Flagler’s application to extend the deadline for filing its petition for writ of certiorari in the Florida sports betting case from Dec. 11. 2023 to Feb. 8, 2024. The application was granted by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.

Florida gaming attorney Daniel Wallach offered this assessment:

"Responses to the cert petition (likely from both the DOI and the Seminole Tribe) will be due on March 11th (30 days later + 2 days for the weekend). West Flagler’s reply brief will be due on March 25th. The deadlines may be moved up if West Flagler files its petition early.

"Based on the revised timeline, the decision on whether to grant cert (and take up the case on the merits) will be pushed back to near the end of the #SCOTUS term in late June."
