2014 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner California Chrome is the -260 favorite to win the 2016 Breeders Cup Classic.
California Chrome is the winner of six straight races coming into the Breeders Cup Classic.
Nyquist Scratched
California Chrome caught a break with the announcement that 2016 Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist has been scratched for the Classic.
“Its (sic) with heavy hearts that we regrettably have to report that Kentucky Derby Winner, Nyquist came out of his most recent work with a puffy ankle,” Nyquist trainer Doug O’Neill said in the statement. “Though Nyquist is 100% sound and x-rays are clean, the timing unfortunately precludes us from the dream of having him run in the Breeders' Cup Classic in our own backyard.”
