Cherry Wine is Another Preakness Stakes Horse That Can Run in the Mud
Lots of folks seem to like the prospect of Exaggerator running well on a muddy Preakness Stakes track but little attention has been paid to Cherry Wine, a 33-1 long shot.
"I'll be one of the few people doing a rain dance," Cherry Wine's trainer Dale Romans said.
His horse broke his maiden by 9 ½ lengths in the slop.
Cherry Wine has won two races and finished third in the Blue Grass Stakes (G1) in his most recent start.
“Cherry Wine has a good chance to be a special horse, too,” exercise rider Faustian Aguilar said. “He loves the slop.”
The forecast for Saturday’s Preakness was calling for steady afternoon rain with up to a half inch accumulation by post time.
