Cloud Computing an 8-1 Long Shot to Repeat at Belmont Stakes
Despite his stunning win at the Preakness Stakes, Cloud Computing opened at 8-1 odds of winning the Belmont Stakes behind Classic Empire (2-1), newcomer Epicharis (4-1), Lookin At Lee and Senior Investment.
Cloud Computing, a 13-1 long shot to the Preakness Stakes, managed to catch American Pharoah in the waning seconds for the victory. It was only his second win. and the first horse to skip the Derby to win the second leg of the Triple Crown since filly Rachel Alexandra in 2009.
Always Dreaming, the Kentucky Derby winner, was among the last of the horses to finish.
"Some of the reason that we won today was because we were patient and didn't throw an inexperienced horse against a 20-horse field in the Derby on a very difficult track,'' winning co-owner Seth Klarman said. "We made a great call.''
