The 20 starting position has led to one win out of fourteen.

Trainer Cliff Sise isn’t worried about the dreaded number 20.

“At first you're kind of stunned when they say 20, but when you start thinking about it, it's not that bad. It's better than the one-hole, especially for a speed horse -- he can come over very gradually and he won't sit in the gate long. Actually, it might be in our favor. We're outside of any other speed horse, so we'll take it.”

Despite a 4th place finish in his last start at the Santa Anita Derby, Danzig Candy did win the Grade II San Felipe Stakes race on March 12. It should be noted that Danzig Candy did set the pace at the Santa Anita Derby, however, sloppy track conditions ultimately took their toll.

"(Jockey) Mike (Smith) said he didn't like the sloppy track,” Sise confirmed.

No worries this Saturday, sunshine should be in abundance with dry track conditions.
