Dortmund Odds for the Preakness Now 5-1
Dortmund odds to win the 2015 Preakness had gotten a little longer Friday morning from 4-1 to 5-1. A great time to place that bet before they get slashed again closer to post time.
Dortmund finished 3rd at the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago but had entered that race undefeated and the strongest challenger to favorite American Pharoah. Firing Line finished the race in 2nd at 12-1 odds that day.
The likely reason for the diminished price on Dortmund are twofold: He’s trainer Bob Baffert’s “other horse” (the one not named American Pharoah) and he’ll be starting from the dreaded number two outside post (American Pharoah will be starting from the number one post position, considered to be an even worse spot).
Baffert was asked if he thought Dortmund could beat Pharoah. "You never know," he said. "I just send them out there, and I'm just hoping I finish 1-2."
