Find PPH Software for Kentucky Derby Prep Races - Road to the Derby
In 2025, there are a few key changes to the Road to the Kentucky Derby prep race schedule.
We have a new race. It's the Virginia Derby at Colonial Down
This race will be run seven weeks prior to the Kentucky Derby and award points to the top 5 finishers on the 50-25-15-10-5 scale.
Additionally, the Championship Series race is run with a 5-horse field. Here only 75 percent of the points will be proportionally awarded.
Four or fewer horses in a race will result in 50% of the points being awarded.
Finally, the UAE Derby will no longer factor as a primary race in America's Road to the Derby.
The scheduled prep races award points to the winner. The top 20 points earners will determine the preference list for the 151st Kentucky Derby on May 3, 2025.
PPH Horse Racing Software
AcePerHead.com PPH software has a fully inclusive racebook, that also gives agents the option to offer their players access to bet in the Racebook, which has over a 150 horse tracks around the world. The feeds and odds for each race come directly from the tracks, and there is absolutely no extra charge to enable this extra feature. The racebook is included as part of the full sports betting and live dealer casino package, all for as little as $3 per customer per week with one week free each month.
Note that 60% of horse racing bets are placed via mobile devices. That's why it's important that you use a 100% mobile-compatible pay per head (PPH) platform to set up your Racebook.
Ace Per Head offers racing-specific sportsbook technologies to make this possible. Because the platform is pay per head (also known as 'price per player'), you only have to pay a small fee of about $10 for each person actively betting with you. This eliminates the need for a flat fee that may not be worth it during the off-season.
PPH platforms keep your race-betting sportsbook scalable, flexible, and consistently lucrative. The service is also fully-managed so you don't need to perform your own updates, upgrades, or even initial web design. Expert site developers take on this task to ensure that you can focus your energy on communicating with bettors and signing on new players.
Results are already known for a number of the prep races that took place in the fall of 2024. This article was published the first week of 2025.
The Chad Summers trainee, Cyclone State, found the winner’s circle for the third time in a row, moving from a maiden special weight in November to an allowance in December and then onto the Kentucky Derby 2025 trail in the Jerome. The son of McKinzie earned 10 Derby qualifying points for the 3 1/2-length victory and becomes the first horse of 2025 to win a Kentucky Derby prep race.
The Championship series kicks off February 15 with the Risen Star.

Understanding The Odds
One of the most important factors that you need to understand when it comes to horse racing is the odds. These are the factors that determine the likelihood of a horse winning. The odds also tell you how much money you can expect to receive if your horse wins. For instance, if the odds are 4-1, you can expect to receive $4 in return for every $1 that you bet.
Pool Betting
A pari-mutuel pool betting method is commonly used in horse racing to settle bets. All of the bets placed on a race are put into a pool.
Instead of placing a bet against the bookie, you’re betting against other people. This method gives you probable odds instead of fixed ones. The house receives its portion of the winnings after the race ends. The payouts are based on the amount that was bet.
Although pari-mutuel pool betting is more complex than traditional odds, it’s still a popular method for horse racing.
