Melatonin Odds to Win Breeders Cup Classic: Success at Santa Anita

Melatonin had odds of winning the 2016 Breeders Cup Classic set at 9-1 and was only four of ten horses with single digit odds to win Saturday’s big race.

“This horse (Melatonin) is the same,” trainer David Hofmans said. “The other day I took him to the gate and it was just like Alphabet Soup, he changed and got that focus going. I think he knows he's got something coming up. There are a lot of similarities.”

Melatonin is familiar with Santa Anita, having won his most recent race there, the Grade 1 Gold Cup.  He also won the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap back in March.

Hofmans has enjoyed success at the Breeders’ Cup with three big wins. Adoration (2003 Distaff) and Desert Code (2008 Turf Sprint) followed Alphabet Soup.
