Mugatu's Chances of Winning This Year's Preakness Stakes

Mugatu offers the biggest payout in this year's Preakness Stakes: $4000 on a $100 bet.  That alone is too great a temptation for some to place a wager, even if there is plenty going against him.

In case you were wondering,  the Average Joe Racing Stables and Dan Wells-owned horse got his name from a "Zoolander" character.

He was sired by Blofeld out of the Union Rags mare Union Way and is trained by Jeff Engler.

Mugatu has run 12 races and won only one.  He finished 5th in his only graded start, the Blue Grass Stakes.

This will be Engler's first Preakness appearance, having won more than 200 races.  He has not had success with graded races, however.  A win here would be his first.

Jockey Joe Bravo's best appearance at a Preakness Stakes was fifth aboard Teeth of the Dog in 2012.  While he hasn't won a Triple Crown race yet, Bravo has over 5600 victories under his belt.

Odds to Win the 2024 Preakness Stakes

1     Mugatu         +4000
2     Uncle Heavy         +1600
3     Catching Freedom         +400
5     Mystik Dan         +250
6     Seize the Grey         +1500
7     Just Steel         +1200
8     Tuscan Gold         +375
9     Imagination         +425
