Soldat Derby Odds: One of the Better “Mud” Horses

Soldat Derby odds were coming in at +1100 or 11/1 at SBG Global.  This is pretty good value should the weather hold up.  Rain around the Louisville (Churchill Downs) area could move in this afternoon with the potential for a muddy track.  Soldat is one horse that could run in the mud or a sloppy track.   Midnight Interlude is another (also at 12/1 odds).

Oddly enough, the line on Soldat hasn’t changed much.  He was listed at +1200 just 24 hours ago.

Soldat will run in the number 17 post position.  Here’s the bad news:  There has never been a horse that won from post No. 17 in the derby's history.  The outside position may be a little too much for Soldat (or most horses for that matter based on history) to handle.

How We Follow Horse Racing Has Completely Changed

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
