He looks a million dollars. … He’s such a strong closer. With the long stretch here, it’s going to suit him down to the ground.”

Why Honor Marie Might Not Win This Year's Kentucky Derby
Trainer (4)
Beckman grew up in Louisville and got his first horse racing job at iconic Churchill Downs.
Beckman started coming into his own in 2023 with Harlan Estate becoming his first stakes winner. Honor Marie would go on to become his first graded stakes winner last November.
His experience, however, is limited coming into this year's Kentucky Derby.

This will be Irish jockey Ben Curtis' first Kentucky Derby. He had a first-place finish in the 2020 Albany (G3) at Royal Ascot and placed 2nd in the Louisiana Derby.
