LEXINGTON, KY (Gambling911.com) - The winner of Kentucky's $167 million Powerball jackpot has been arrested for a 4th time since hitting that jackpot.
James Farthing, a former convict, had already plead guilty of assaulting a police officer while celebrating his big win during a trip to Florida.
Farthing, from Georgetown, Kentucky, just outside of Lexington, was arrested at the Island Grand in St. Petersburg in May of last year, just days after learning his Power Ball ticket was a winner.
He had won the lottery along with his mother, Linda Grizzle. Farthing purchased the $2 Powerball ticket for her from Clark’s Pump N Shop in Georgetown.
Grizzle spoke to the Lottery and joked that it would be a good Mother’s Day, saying that the win would allow her to first pay off her debt.
But it's only been one nightmare after another since that big jackpot.
He was recently charged in a hit-and-run that took place last November after allegedly smashing his Corvette into the back of another car in Lexington and fleeing the scene on foot, WHAS 11 reported.
Farthing was also arrested this February and charged with intimidating a participant in the legal process, according to the outlet.
Now he's alleged to have strangled a female during an argument at a boat dock.
He has been charged with strangulation and assault – both for domestic violence.
He allegedly returned to his home in Georgetown from a boating trip and got into a fight with a woman — ending with his hands around her neck.
The victim had welts on her neck, according to the warrant.
A not guilty plea was entered on Farthing’s behalf Tuesday and his bond was set at $15,000 cash, WAVE 3 reported.
He is also required to wear a monitoring device and cannot contact the victim, the outlet reported.
The preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 27 at 1.30 p.m.
