This is the latest gambling news pertaining to the great state of Maryland.
Maryland Considers Online Casinos
BALTIMORE, MD (Gambling911.com) - 2024 may be the year we see more states opening up to internet casinos. Maryland is among those at the forefront it seems.
Updated Maryland iGaming bill raises the tax rate and licensing fee. The proposal released prior to Maryland legislative session sets tax at 46 percent, up from 15 percent. License fee set at $1m, with two skins allowed for each casino.
The Maryland Gaming Control Agency suggests the state could generate over $533 million in revenue in the very first year after legalizing online gambling.
This is no easy task. Bill 267 must pass both houses of the Maryland legislature. A simple majority of voters would then have to approve the launch of online gambling, which would not happen until at least June 2025.
It's interesting to note that Maryland’s six casinos saw a decline of 24.9% in October compared to the same month last year.

Christmas Night Offers Potential Super Bowl Matchup
BALTIMORE, MD (Gambling911.com) - A game between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers Christmas night could prove to be a preview of the upcoming Super Bowl game.
The 49ers (11-3) could secure the NFC’s No. 1 seed as early as Monday night if they beat the visiting Ravens (11-3) after their NFC rivals all lose in Week 16. Both teams are likely to be the conference leaders come the post season.
This year, the 49ers became the first team to make the NFC playoffs, and the Ravens were the first AFC team with their 23-7 win at Jacksonville Sunday night.
In a way this game can be classified as historic. Only once before have teams sharing the NFL’s best record met 15 weeks into a season.
The line on this game was shifting between San Francisco -5 and -5.5 midweek. We get a number of San Francisco 4.16, indicating a slight overlay. The 49ers were seeing better than 60% of the action in a game that should result in hefty volume.
