No. 24 Mississippi State faces a test that not many teams have experienced, facing Alabama off a loss.  This one features a line of either -20.5 or -21 depending on the book.

Using the Sagarin numbers, we get a line of 14.82, which indicates an overlay of 5.5 to 6.  Recent history suggests that might not matter.  The Tide have beaten Mississippi State by more than the current spread in each of the last four years.

Mississippi State is coming off a 27-17 loss to No. 22 Kentucky.

"That running back pounded us," Mississippi State coach Mike Leach said about Kentucky's Chris Rodriguez Jr. "We didn't tackle very well. The offensive line took turns getting penalties. All of this is my fault because I call the offense."

Alabama is trying to bounce back from a loss to Tennessee. Can Alabama bounce back?

Bryce Young, a game-time decision because of a sprained right shoulder two weeks ago, completed 35 passes for 455 yards and two TDs for the Tide.

"It was great to be out there with my teammates," the Heisman Trophy winner said. "Shoulder is fine."
