Tuesday May 27 Games Outlook

Marlins vs. Padres Tuesday May 27

San Diego opened at -170 and that line has since dropped to -150.  We've seen greater than 80% on the Padres.

PITCHING PROBABLES: Marlins: Max Meyer (3-4, 4.15 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 63 strikeouts); Padres: Stephen Kolek (2-1, 2.84 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 21 strikeouts)

Meyer has actually been hit hard by these Padres hitters, so not a game we are going to pull the trigger on.  Still, we are not keen on backing San Diego with the lopsided action and moneyline dropping.  Suggests a sucker play here.

San Diego has a 17-8 record at home and a 30-22 record overall. The Padres have gone 10-5 in games decided by one run.

Miami is 21-31 overall and 8-16 in road games. The Marlins have the seventh-ranked team batting average in the NL at .249.

Blue Jays vs. Rangers

Here we have a total moving from 7.5 to 8 even though most of the total action is on the Under.

It makes sense that the public likes the Under as the last three games total have come Under 4.5.

Bowden Francis has only permitted five hits against the Rangers in 30 at bats.

Francis went just four innings and allowed two runs while not getting a decision Thursday against the Padres.

Toronto Blue Jays career statistics vs. Nathan Eovaldi have 44 hits in 128 at bats (.341).   Eovaldi allowed just a run over six innings, but still picked up a loss against the Yankees on Thursday. Before that he  Eovaldi allowed just a run over six innings, but still picked up a loss against the Yankees on Thursday.

Texas was falling from -162 to -135 with greater than 70% of the moneyline action on the Rangers at some books.

Memorial Day May 26 Games

Rockies vs. Cubs Monday May 26

The total on this one dropped from 8 to 7.5 with greater than 80 percent on the Over.  The recreational books were monitor had also dropped to 7.5.  That's the wrong direction for this total.

Chicago; Monday, 2:20 p.m. EDT

PITCHING PROBABLES: Rockies: Carson Palmquist (0-2, 11.88 ERA, 2.52 WHIP, two strikeouts); Cubs: Jameson Taillon (3-3, 4.13 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 44 strikeouts)

Palmquist has struggled early, giving up 12 earned runs over 8 1/3 innings in his first two starts, and the betting public obviously believes that trend will continue.

In 43 at bats, Taillon has allowed 9 runs against Rockies hitters, only one of which was a home run (.207).

Taillon allowed one run and four hits over seven innings in a win over the Marlins on Tuesday.

Take the Under 8, still available at Circa Sports if you happen to be in a state where they are regulated.

This was another nice win for us.

Nice Win for May 25

Brewers vs. Pirates Sunday May 25

The line here has moved from Brewers -105 to -131 with greater than 70% backing on Milwaukee.  One has to wonder why this line isn't moving further up.  Milwaukee is oh so enticing at -131 and some recreational books have the number even lower.  The general trend was -118 to -135.

PITCHING PROBABLES: Brewers: Logan Henderson (3-0, 1.69 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, 23 strikeouts); Pirates: Bailey Falter (3-3, 3.50 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 39 strikeouts)

The Brewers batters have faced Falter on 43 occasions with just 8 hits and just one home run (.188)

Falter just pitched four-hit ball for seven innings in the Pirates’ 1-0 shutout of the Reds on Tuesday, which followed a no-decision against the Mets.

Pittsburgh is too sorry a team at the moment to back but we'd avoid Milwaukee here, as tempting as it might be.   We should note that the Pirates are starting to show some life in recent games.

While the Pirates didn't win, this was a close one with a final score of 6-5.

Yankees vs. Rockies Sunday May 25

The total on this one dropped from 11.5 to 10.5 with greater than 75% of the action on the Over.  A number of sites had only dropped to the 11 while one of the recreational sportsbooks we follow was still holding at 11.5. This one could still end up going Over.

We didn't pull the trigger here for a reason.  The total ended on the 9.

Marlins-Edward-Cabrera.png

Marlins vs. Angels Sunday May 25

This is the most lopsided action with LA seeing greater than 80% of the action as a -127 favorite with the line dropping from -145.

PITCHING PROBABLES: Marlins: Edward Cabrera (0-1, 5.50 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, 33 strikeouts); Angels: Kyle Hendricks (2-5, 5.32 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 28 strikeouts)

Cabrera yielded three runs in five innings and struck out seven against the Cubs on Monday.  In his prior start, he yielded one run in five innings against the White Sox.

Hendricks allowed four runs with three strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a win against the Athletics on Tuesday.

Do take the Marlins +115 here

Marlins enjoyed a nice 3-0 victory.

Nice Win for May 24

Pirates -114, Brewers -105.

The key number here is the total, which has shot from 8 to 9.  One of the recreational books we monitor was sitting on the 8.  Greater than 70% of the total action was on the Over here.

BOTTOM LINE: The Pittsburgh Pirates host the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday.

Pittsburgh is 18-34 overall and 12-15 in home games. The Pirates are 11-6 in games when they out-hit their opponents.

Milwaukee has a 10-17 record on the road and a 25-27 record overall. The Brewers are 19-4 in games when they out-hit their opponents.

Saturday's game is the third time these teams square off this season.

TOP PERFORMERS: Oneil Cruz has six doubles and 10 home runs while hitting .229 for the Pirates. Jared Triolo is 4 for 28 with a double and two home runs over the past 10 games.

Brice Turang has four doubles, four home runs and 21 RBI for the Brewers. Rhys Hoskins is 13 for 34 with three doubles and three home runs over the last 10 games.

We like the UNDER 9

This one stayed well Under the total.

Recent Betting Value Analysis

Padres vs. Braves Friday May 23

The line on this one moved from Atlanta -132 all the way up to -177 with greater than 65% of the action on Atlanta.  Oddsmakers were certainly dissuading gamblers from betting the Braves.  In the end, San Diego won 2-1.

Guardians vs. Tigers Friday May 23

This one really stood out for the total.  We saw the number go from 9 to 8.5 with lopsided action on the Over.  This was an obvious attempt to get the public backing the Over.  In the end, we had a final total of 3-1 for the Under.

Then there's the line itself.  Detroit went from -145 to -105 with as much as 88% backing on the Tigers.  Cleveland would go on to win this game.
