Saturday May 31 Games Outlook

Reds vs. Cubs

The oddsmakers are reacting to all the action coming in on Chicago with the line moving from -145 to -175.  We just question why some of the recreational books are keeping this one below that -175 price.  Perhaps the Reds pull off a win here?  Who knows.  We're not prepared to pull the trigger.

PITCHING PROBABLES: Reds: Nick Lodolo (4-4, 3.39 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 55 strikeouts); Cubs: Drew Pomeranz (2-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.55 WHIP, 14 strikeouts)

Chicago Cubs career statistics vs. Nick Lodolo are .319.

Giants vs. Marlins

This one really caught our eye as the line on San Francisco moved from -170 to -143 and the percentage of bets on the Giants was consistent across the board at greater than 70%.

San Francisco Giants career statistics vs. Edward Cabrera are .196 with just one home run and 6 hits in 34 at bats.

Angels vs. Indians

Here we have the total moving from 8.5 to 8 despite much of the early action being on the Over.

PITCHING PROBABLES: Angels: Kyle Hendricks (2-6, 5.23 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 33 strikeouts); Guardians: Slade Cecconi (1-1, 3.27 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 14 strikeouts)

The series has mostly resulted in runs Over the current total of 8.

Hendricks logged a quality start in Sunday afternoon’s loss to the Marlins, giving up three runs on seven hits over his six innings of work.

Friday May 30 Games Outlook

Brewers vs Phillies

Philadelphia went from a -146 to -115 favorite yet much of the action (greater than 65%) was on the Phillies moneyline.

PITCHING PROBABLES: Brewers: D.L. Hall (1-0, 3.86 ERA, 1.71 WHIP, one strikeout); Phillies: Taijuan Walker (2-3, 2.97 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 33 strikeouts)

Hall (lat) threw three shutout innings while securing a win for Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.

Walker picked a win while allowing three runs over five innings against the Rockies his last start May 21.

Philadelphia has won five of the last seven games in this series.

Storms could impact this game towards the end.

This one had all the makings of the dog (Milwaukee) winning with the line movement so favorable for Philadelphia and the Phillies seeing much of the action.  Indeed, the Brewers would go on to win.

Rockies vs. Mets

Very lopsided Over action here at 8 but it is telling that some of the recreational books were still sitting on the 7.5.

New York Mets career statistics vs. Kyle Freeland are just .195 in 82 at bats.

Freeland was tagged for eight runs — four earned — in 4 2/3 innings Saturday in a loss to the Yankees. He previously gave up just one run over 5 1/3 innings with six strikeouts, but he didn’t factor into the decision Monday against the Phillies.

Colorado Rockies career statistics vs. David Peterson have 12 hits in 40 at bats.

Peterson hurled 7 2/3 innings of two-run baseball to get a win Saturday over the Dodgers.

Take the Under 8 here

This one did say Under and turned into a nice win for us.

Thursday May 29 Games Outlook

Yesterday, had we made all our suggested plays we would have managed to go 2-0.  Instead, we opted to sit on the sidelines.

Rays @ Astros

Very lopsided action on the Over 8 for this game.  Very few books were moving to the 8.5 early to encourage more action on the Under.  This includes some of the recreational books we follow.

PITCHING PROBABLES: Rays: Shane Baz (4-3, 4.94 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, 52 strikeouts); Astros: Ryan Gusto (3-2, 4.58 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, 38 strikeouts)

Baz held the Blue Jays to one run in 5 2/3 innings in a win Saturday but allowed five runs in his prior start.

Astros career statistics vs. Baz have only hit one homer in 34 at bats.

Gusto allowed two runs over 4 2/3 innings against the Mariners on Friday.  He kept the Rangers scoreless in a relief role.

Six of the last ten in this series have resulted in games staying Under 8.

We will be on the Under 8.

Such as bad loss as this one was looking to stay Under then Tampa went on a scoring frenzy during the 7th and 8th innings with ten runs scored.

Wednesday May 28 Games Outlook

While we had some enticing opportunities crying out yesterday, we resisted and that provided to be the right move.

Rockies @ Cubs

Today we've seen heavy lopsided action on the Rockies-Cubs total, but interestingly enough, Bovada dropped this number to 7.5.

The last two totals have stayed at Under 7.5.

The question is: Do you really want to trust Colorado's starter Tanner Gordon in an Under situation?  Probably not.

This one did manage to stay well Under at 2-1.

Blue Jays @ Rangers

We really, really want to pounce on the Toronto Blue Jays in this series.

Today's line was once again dropping with Texas going from a -152 favorite to -128 and some books have the Rangers seeing greater than 70% of the action.

Texas has only won three of their last ten games and both teams are at the .500 mark for the most part.  Texas is 3-2 in the last five meetings versus Toronto, a team that has won five of their last ten overall.

Eric Lauer gave up three runs in 4 1/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Rays. Lauer allowed one run with five strikeouts over three innings in a no-decision against the Tigers on Saturday.  Prior to this, he picked up a victory.

Tyler Mahle allowed five hits and three runs with three walks and three strikeouts over five innings in a loss to the White Sox on Friday.  Mahle still hasn’t given up more than two runs in any start this season.

We were still on the fence with Toronto as of Wednesday morning, but they do look slightly more appealing than they did on Tuesday.

We remained on the fence.  Toronto won 2-0.

Recent Betting Value Analysis

Padres vs. Braves Friday May 23

The line on this one moved from Atlanta -132 all the way up to -177 with greater than 65% of the action on Atlanta.  Oddsmakers were certainly dissuading gamblers from betting the Braves.  In the end, San Diego won 2-1.

Guardians vs. Tigers Friday May 23

This one really stood out for the total.  We saw the number go from 9 to 8.5 with lopsided action on the Over.  This was an obvious attempt to get the public backing the Over.  In the end, we had a final total of 3-1 for the Under.

Then there's the line itself.  Detroit went from -145 to -105 with as much as 88% backing on the Tigers.  Cleveland would go on to win this game.
