Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson Winner By State Twitter X InfoMap
I wrote my long rant about the state of boxing last month, so I’m off my high horse now.
People love the zoo and always stop to look at car crashes, and that is basically what the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight is.
A young You-Tuber vs a legendary boxer that has had his AARP card for eight years.
I am truly fascinated to see the numbers that Netflix gets for this fight. It could change sports viewership in so many ways.
The map below courtesy of BetOnline.ag, which is offering dozens of prop bets for this fight, is based on geotagged Twitter (X) data in the last 30 days leading up to this Friday's fight, tracking which fighter each state is picking to win the bout. For example, "Mike Tyson will win," "Jake Paul will win," "betting on Tyson," "betting on Jake Paul," #TeamTyson, #TeamPaul, etc. Over 190,000 tweets were tracked.
As you can see from the map, America is largely split on who to pick. Some say there is no way Mike Tyson, at 58 years old, can keep up with Paul who is 27. Others say that Tyson, even at close to 60, will have too much power for Paul, and is still an actual boxer as opposed to an MMA fighter or other type of athlete that Paul has faced. There is also a large swath of people who believe it isn't a real fight in general, and that it is "fixed" or at the very least, will be choreographed to end in a specific result, such as a Jake Paul victory by decision.
Here is the state breakdown:
Mike Tyson - 28 states
Jake Paul - 22 states
