Who's Hot, Who's Not

Thunder - They have won eight of their last ten games.

Jazz - Utah is cooling off, winning just four of their last ten.

Pacers - After three straight losses, the Pacers finally won one in Charlotte.  They still look suspect.

Rockets - They have been struggling of late and are winners of just 5 on the road.

Suns - They are 7-3 in their last ten games.

Bucks - The Bucks are only 4-14 Against The Spread in their previous 18 games overall.

Head to Head Advantages

Rockets vs. Pacers - The Pacers have won the last eight games against Houston.  Wins at home were by at least seven points in the last three.

Indiana opened at -6.5 but that number has moved to -8.5.  We get a number of Pacers 3.72, however, a far cry from the actual line.

The Rockets are only averaging 113.2 points per 100 possessions compared to 120.7 per 100 by the Pacers.

No matter how much we would want to back the Pacers here, the overlay is just too much.

Mavs vs. Nets - The Mavericks have won 8 of the last 10 versus Brooklyn.

Both teams are in the second game of a back-to-back and the Mavericks really did not have to travel far from Philadelphia, where they beat the 76ers last night, to come to Brooklyn.

Magic vs. Heat - Heat have won five of the last seven in this series.  The two losses were in Orlando.  Miami has won the last four at home.

Tyler Herro will probably play while Duncan Robinson was expected to return after missing four games.

Timberwolves vs. Bulls - Minnesota is playing well but the Bulls are 4-0 at home in this series and playing around .500 even with seven of their last ten games being on the road.  Two of the losses happened to be at home though.

Thunder vs. Jazz - The Thunder of won the last five in this series following dominance by Utah.

Bucks vs. Suns - Bucks are hot against the Suns of late, winning 7 of the last 8.  The Bucks are 5-5 in their last ten and conclude a 5-game road trip after losing in Utah having been way up.  Milwaukee only has one win during this road trip.

The Suns return from a seven-game road trip in which they won four.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
