Spurs Odds Impact as Victor Wembanyama Out for Season
San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama is expected to miss the reminder of the season with a deep vein thrombosis in right shoulder, the team announced Thursday.
The Spurs said in a statement that the condition was discovered after Wembanyama returned to San Antonio after the All-Star Game.
A thrombosis is a form of a blood clot. The Spurs believe it is an isolated issue for Wembanyama.
As of Thursday early afternoon, the Spurs line sat at +2.5 as they prepared to host the Phoenix Suns. The AcePerHead odds feed did not list the game as of 1:03 pm ET.
Wembanyama has been averaging 24.3 points, 11 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.8 blocks for the Spurs.
The Spurs are 16-18 against conference opponents. San Antonio has a 5-6 record in games decided by 3 points or fewer.
The Suns have gone 17-17 against Western Conference opponents. Phoenix is 13-5 when it turns the ball over less than its opponents and averages 13.2 turnovers per game.
