Mets Chance to Rebound vs. Nats

(May 15, 2023) - The Mets will face off against the Washington Nationals in this week's series.  They are 25-11 in the last 36 meetings against Washington.

New York is right around the .500 mark and had lost six of their last ten games overall, so the Nationals to provide an excellent opportunity to get back on track.  Easier said than done perhaps.

On the road in Game 1, the Mets opened as a -160 favorite.

Hot and Cold Trends

  • Mets are 12-5 in their last 17 Monday games.
  • Mets are 6-14 in their last 20 overall.
  • Mets are 0-6 in their last 6 games following a win.
  • Nationals are 18-60 in their last 78 vs. National League East.

Braves-Mets April 28 and 29 Games Likely Postponed

(April 28, 2023) - Rain was in the forecast throughout the day Friday and Saturday, right up until 11 pm Saturday.  As such, it was widely anticipated that the Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets games on both these days would be postponed.  Find out what happens if you already placed a bet on either game.

The Braves were 4-0 in the last 4 meetings against the Mets and the Over was 5-0-1 in the last 6 meetings in New York.

The Braves are 8-1 in their last 9 road games.

The Mets are 10-4 in their last 14 home games with the total set at 7.0-8.5, which was the range of the total on Friday.

The Over is 8-1 in Braves last 9 during game 1 of a series and 6-1 in Braves last 7 games with the total set at 7.0-8.5.

The Over is 5-0-1 in the last 6 meetings in New York.

Mets a -120 Favorite vs. San Diego in Game 3 of Series

(April 12, 2023) - Mets Tylor Megill goes up against Padres Blake Snell.  Megill is 2-0 with an impressive 1.64 ERA so far this season.  Compare that with Snell's 7.88 ERA.  But also be careful.  Something told us Snell was going to be rebounding here for this Wednesday afternoon game. The Mets batters are .244 against him (26 of 108 at bats).  There are three homers in that mix.

The Padres are 4-0 in their last 4 during game 3 of a series, 6-0 in their last 6 games with the total set at 9.0-10.5.

The Mets are 8-1 in their last 9 home games with the total set at 9.0-10.5.

Snell did struggle again, and that can't be good for San Diego.   He fell apart in the third inning to ensure a win by the Mets (5-2).

The Max Scherzer-Yu Darvish Recap

(April 11, 2023) - Yu Darvish's only start of the season ahead of the April 10 game versus the Metsactually resulted in four walks and throwing just 56% of his pitches for strikes.  That's way below his typical performance, so we anticipated a better outing on Monday with San Diego was coming in at +115 most books.  In the end, it was the 7th inning that got him.  Darvish gave up five runs on six hits over 6 1/3 innings of work.

Max Scherzer, making his third start of the season, gave up zero runs as the Mets blanked San Diego 5-0.  The total was 7.5 and this one stayed Under despite Darvish giving up the five runs.

The Mets were 6-5 going into Tuesday April 11.

Max Scherzer-Yu Darvish Matchup Preview

(April 10, 2023) - The Padres took the National League Wild Card Series 2-1 in 2022.

The Mets, in particular, did quite a bit during the off season to ramp up the team. Both clubs are 5-4 coming into Monday.

Yu Darvish's only start of the season thus far actually resulted in four walks and throwing just 56% of his pitches for strikes.  That's way below his typical performance, so we anticipate a better outing on Monday.  San Diego was coming in at +115 most books.

Max Scherzer is about to make his third start of the season.  His first was a quality start.  His second he gave up three home runs against the Brewers.  The total is 7.5

The Over is 9-3 in Mets last 12 home games and 20-7-1 in Mets last 28 overall.

Starling Marte is the one true threat to Darvish in this game, having gone 8 of 20 at bats against him, three of those RBIs (1 home run).

Marte has a .303 ERA at the moment.

Nelson Cruz owns a .350 ERA currently and has gone 14 of 34 at bats vs. Scherzer (.412) including 7 RBIs and 3 home runs.  The Padres are still .212 versus Scherzer overall.

San Diego is 6-2 against New York in the last eight meetings.

Mets Most Expensive Team in Major League Baseball

(December 12, 2022) - It's true.  The New York Mets have become the most expensive team in Major League Baseball history.  That should translate into some pretty short odds to win the 2023 World Series, right?

Well, close.

While Houston remains the team to beat in the eyes of the oddsmakers, the Mets have steadily been inching their way up the World Series odds board this offseason.

Mets owner Steve Cohen offered Carlos Correa, the 28-year-old superstar shortstop, a deal he simply could not refuse: $315 million over 12 years.

They've spent big on the likes of Justin Verlander, Brandon Nimmo, Edwin Diaz and Kodai Senga.

The 2023 Mets payroll [so far] is projected to be $384 million, with more than $110 million in luxury taxes to follow.

The day after the 2022 Series concluded, the Mets had 12-1 odds to win the 2023 championship. The Top 5 on that day were the Dodgers (6-1), Astros (7-1), Braves (8-1), Yankees (10-1) and Blue Jays (10-1).

Heading into Christmas 2022, those payout odds were $700 for every $100 bet.  Only the Astros had shorter odds at +625.
