Orioles @ Yankees (July 5, 2023)

Randy Vasquez with his 1-1 record and 1.74 ERA starts for the Yankees today.

The Yankees recalled RHP Randy Vásquez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The Yankees career statistics vs. Dean Kremer are 20 of 59 but without any home runs.

DJ LeMahieu is 8 for 19 against him but is just .212 on the season.

The Starting Pitchers

(June 15, 2023) - Gerrit Cole recorded eight strikeouts over six innings of one-run ball on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Mets.

He definitely should be on your radar for his next start, whether that be a Yankees win or Under.

Gerrit Cole

Other Starters

Domingo German (4-3, 3.49 ERA)

Clarke Schmidt (2-6, 4.70 ERA)

Luis Severino (0-1, 6.48 ERA)

Yankees vs. Mets Under

(June 14, 2023) - Before a sellout crowd of 44,121 on a night when the Yankees’ Gerrit Cole and the Mets’ Justin Verlander combined to allow two runs in 12 innings with 14 strikeouts and no walks, the game was decided against the bullpens. Tommy Pham's RBI double in the fifth and Jake Bauers' run-scoring single in the sixth left the score 1-1.

Gambling911.com was all over the UNDER 7 in this one.  Some books briefly offered this one at 7.5, which would have resulted in a Win.  We ended up with the PUSH when all was said and done.  The final score: 4-3.

Cole suffered his first loss of the season his start prior to this one.  And he only allowed two runs in six innings Friday against the Red Sox.

We anticipated Cole would be out for blood on Wednesday, especially taking part in the Subway Series.  And that he was!

He had pitched through 6 innings in four of his last five starts, including that prior loss.

Cole also permitted just 21 hits in 103 at bats versus Yankees batters. Tommy Pham (.246, 6 home runs) had two homers against the Yankees starter.

Verlander was beat up badly by the Braves his last start, giving up five runs in just three innings.  He had a loss in his previous start and was without a win in his last three prior to this game.

Verlander had allowed Yankees batters just 33 hits off of 144 at bats (.229).  Willie Calhoun (.240) has given Verlander the most fits, hitting 5 of 11 off of him.

We would note that Verlander walked away from this game yielding one run over six innings, but also did not factor into the decision.

Six of the last seven Yankees resulted in no more than 6 runs scored.

Five of the last ten Mets games resulted in no more than 6 runs scored.
